During the 2017 California PG&E fires, parents and teachers were subjected to an onslaught of misinformation by school administrators eager to maximize ADA (Average Daily Attendance). This post was originally written to provide families with more reliable information about the actual health risks of breathing in smoke. Years later the information remains just as relevant and accurate, mainly because human lungs evolve far slower than the every-shifting political winds and popular prejudices.
